Overview
Graduate School of Management of Technology, Sogang University (Sogang MOT) aims to educate students to have global, entrepreneurial and interactive mind-set. Also aims for students to become entrepreneurs and managers who can be fully adapted to technology convergence in industries. Our education system has characteristics of student centered education, hands-on practice, industry-university collaboration and globalized programs. We have initially developed our curriculum based on the survey with C-level executives from 300 corporations and progressively improved the curriculum based on the bi-annual industry survey.
Besides the faculties who were former CEOs and excellent faculties from school, at Sogang MOT, adjunct professors with hands-on experiences from various areas and expertise are participating to give lectures. Additionally, we have invited prominent scholars from MIT sloan School of Management, Georgia Institute of Technology and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as visiting professors. This signifies that Sogang MOT is a leading institute that has global networks in the technology management areas.
Though we educate students on technology management, we also focus on raising their capabilities to understand humanities and provide Friday-Forum, a special session that invites eminent persons from various areas and hear about their hands-on experiences. We also provide internship program, mentor-mentee program and summer vacation program, all of which can help students to enhance their ability to understand the industry and global trends. Also, students can achieve dual degrees, one from Sogang University and the other from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), if they enroll in UIUC one year after completing their coursework at Sogang MOT.
Students and alumni of Sogang MOT are playing a key role in strategic planning, new technology development planning, R&D management, R&D personnel management, technology based new product development and making technology policy in their companies, research institutes and government agencies. We believe that our students will play a role as vision leaders in their companies, who can guide firms to become a leader of the market-based technological capabilities, a role as thought leaders who have insights in the future-based academic capabilities, and a role as path finders who can steer Korea in the global economy.
