• Curriculum to nurture talents with creativity and technology

In a situation where there are no programs nurturing metaverse exerts in Korea, the Graduate School of Metaverse, established for the first time in Korea, focuses on nurturing talents who are equipped with the “creative convergence capability” required by the metaverse industry and also equipped with the “technological competency” to preemptively respond to industrial demands.

The curriculum of the Graduate School of Metaverse is fundamentally based on the 6Cs model. 6Cs include creative convergence capabilities such as Creativity, Communication and Commerce, and in-demand technological competences in industries such as Content Technical Planning, Computational XR Capability, and Core Competence. Theory lectures and project-based classes will be harmonized to develop talents with these competences.

There is a total of three majors, Metaverse Business, Technology, and Entertainment, but the actual education focuses on strengthening the convergence-type competences that will cover more than the field of study. About twenty professors participate in the education of three majors, and several prominent external experts directly participate in team teachings as visiting professors for project classes based on industry-academia cooperation. Detailed curriculum can be found on the website of the Graduate School of Metaverse.

Unprecedented admission scholarships and guaranteed opportunities to participate in various projects

By establishing a close industry-academia cooperation system with the Korea VR AR Industry Association and the Korea Metaverse Industry Association, the Graduate School of Metaverse is expected to activate large-scale projects, internships, and R&D collaboration. In accordance with the needs of the sources of demand, the school plans to open PBL (problem-based learning) classes that resolve industrial demands and difficulties through capstone design courses and provide credit field-training courses by operating internships at companies within the industry-academia cooperation system, as required. Based on this, a class will progress in such a way that it can develop into an evolved project.

In addition, the school will be actively supporting re-education of incumbents for working-level staff in various industrial fields as well as nurturing students of master's and doctoral degrees, and will conduct various micro degree education and training programs. Through this, it is expected that the industrial sites and education at the university will become closer and that it will foster a dynamic education system in which various industry-academia cooperation projects are initiated.

As such, by designing most classes to be closely connected with the industrial field, it is expected that external resources and energy will be introduced into the graduate school to provide scholarships to the majority of students, and it will serve as a very positive growth engine for employment and future career planning. In particular, to support outstanding talents who apply for the master's degree program, there are plans to offer exceptional scholarships to incoming students.

Hyun Dai-won, dean of the Graduate School of Metaverse, said, “Companies that want to actively utilize metaverse as a new business opportunity will continue to expand the market in all directions in the future, and this will work as a very positive energy for our students’ career paths.” He also added, “There are already plans in various fields such as finance, e-commerce, healthcare, education and training, entertainment and performance to enter and collaborate in metaverse, and all incoming students are automatically guaranteed the opportunity to participate in these projects.”
