Wang Sang-han, deputy dean of the Law School (hereafter, dean) donated KRW 100 million to the Law School Development Fund. In commemoration, a delivery ceremony was held at 9:30 a.m. on July 30 (Fri) in the President’s Office, attended by Dean Wang Sang-han himself, President Sim Jong-hyeok, Executive Vice President Song Tai-kyong of Academic Affairs, and Vice President Jeong Ok-hyun of Public Affairs. This generous donation will be used for scholarships to encourage academic improvements for Law School students and for various other expenses (special lecture fees, expenses for facility-environment improvement, etc.) for employment support.

During the donation ceremony, Dean Wang said, “As a professor at Sogang University for 25 years, I have received many benefits from the school and have always felt grateful for these. I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to the school.” He added, “The purpose of the Law School is for the Sogang community and the country at large, and I think the most important starting point lies with the students. I hope this donation serves as the priming water in prompting Law School alumni and other people of virtue to come together to create a brighter future for students with the continuation of meaningful support.”

Dean Wang Sang-han, who took office on July 12, was appointed as a professor of Law at the university in August 1996, going on to serve as the head of Sogang School of Law, vice president of Public Affairs, and the head of the Institute for Legal Studies. He has been generously supporting the school all along the way through similar donations, particularly supporting the School of Law and Law School Development Fund and the Sogang Family Scholarship.

Speaking about this latest donation, President Sim said, “I am deeply grateful to the dean for providing the foundation for our Law School students to realize their dreams.” He went on to say, “With Dean Wang’s donation as a start, I hope that more opportunities will be triggered for Law School alumni to actively work together for their juniors’ benefit.”
