On July 27, a business agreement was signed at the Mapo-gu Office building to lay the foundation for cooperation between Sogang University, Mapo-gu, and Hongik University in the campus town development project.
The content of this agreement includes active cooperation by all participants (Mapo-gu, Sogang University, and Hongik University) in their selection for promoting the Seoul Campus Town Project, achieving win-win coexistence in the Mapo-gu region, revitalizing the local economy, and fostering youth entrepreneurship.
Sogang University is currently involved in the unit-type business for the Seoul Campus Town Project while continuing other cooperative projects with Mapo-gu, such as the operation of the Mapo Business Center and the Mapo English Literacy Center. Sogang plans to enter the comprehensive-type business for the Seoul Campus Town Project through this business agreement by utilizing its many years of experience gained in the unit-type business.
In addition, through the ‘Sogang VISION 2030 Proclamation Ceremony,’ held on June 22, the university announced that the Sogang Entrepreneur Center, which was established to revitalize industry-university-research cooperation, would be expanded and reorganized. The plan is for this center to not only lead in future technologies, such as AI (artificial intelligence), bio, and digital humans, but also to support small-business owners in Mapo-gu, where the campus is located. In this way, it can play a leading role in innovation rather than being alienated from cutting-edge innovative technologies. Based on this, Sogang will play a pivotal part in Mapo-gu’s growth into an area that performs the role of a platform for innovation.
President Sim Jong-hyeok expressed his gratitude for this cooperative project with Mapo-gu Office, saying, “As a base organization for supporting startups in the northwestern region, we will actively utilize Sogang’s unique startup know-how accumulated over the years to revitalize the local economy and create jobs.”
