Donors' Signboard-Hanging Ceremony and Consecration in

Commemorating Completion of Administration Building Elevator

On Wednesday, July 8, the Donors' Signboard-Hanging Ceremony and Consecration were held to commemorate the completion of the elevator in the Administration Building. The installation of this elevator was funded by the Graduates of 1989 alumni's homecoming-day fund, along with collaborative companies, including Samkoo Inc., and other donations from alumni, faculty, students, and students' parents. Starting with the contract to outsource the installation and the process of obtaining certification, on June 20, 2019, the building project has taken just over a year to complete (in July). The installation is especially intended for use by passengers with disabilities, and the elevator has a capacity of 13 passengers, traveling between the first to fourth floors and equipped with an air purifier to ensure a pleasant environment.

The ceremony was attended by over 20 participants: Board of Directors' Chairman Park Mun Su, President Park Jong Gou, Executive Vice President Choi Soon Jae of Academic Affairs, Acting Executive Vice President Oh Kyung Whan of Research & External Affairs, Samkoo Inc. CSO Kim Hyung-Kyu, Certified Labor Attorney Park Young Ki at Human labor & Management Institute (Department of Religious Studies, 1989), and Ihime Consulting CEO Brian Shim (Business School, 1981). The event began with a progress report by Vice President for Facilities, followed by the consecration, donors' signboard-hanging ceremony, President's commemorative speech, and photograph taking.

President Park Jong Gou said, "This ceremony is to give thanks to Sogang alumni's continued affection for the school and the sweat and efforts of numerous participants in the contraction." He expressed his deepest gratitude to everyone's sparing no effort or support up until completion of the project.

President Park also addressed that the purpose of the elevator in the Administration Building was to allow easier access to the building for more Sogang people, especially individuals who are physically disadvantaged or require assistance accessing the building. He then added, "The purpose of Sogang's education is for everybody and anybody to realize their dreams of learning without discrimination, and the installation of this elevator will serve as another footstep toward approaching this ideology. I hope all Sogang students can equally enjoy the campus of Sogang."
