Sogang University has been ranked No. 1 in the ’2021 Korea Standard-Service Quality Index’ (KS-SQI) survey hosted by the Korea Standards Association (KSA) for the eighth consecutive year. The 2021 KS-SQI Certificate Award Ceremony was held at Lotte Hotel on Wednesday, November 3, where President Sim Jong-hyeok, who attended the ceremony, received the 1st place certification plaque in the university category.

The Korean Service Quality Index (hereafter KS-SQI) is a representative comprehensive index that validates and verifies the overall quality of services for consumers who have directly experienced the company's products and services. Ever since the Korean Standards Association and Seoul National University’s Institute of Management Research jointly devised the index by identifying and conveying the characteristics of both the domestic service industry and customers back in 2000, it has been employed as a representative comprehensive index to quantify the overall quality level of the Korean service industry for the past 22 years.

This year’s annual KS SQI survey was carried out between July and September and was conducted among students presently in attendance of the target universities, excluding first year students at the time of the survey. This year the introduction of the KS SQI 3.0 model is of notable interest as it creates additional indicators of ESG, corporate moral values. Sogang displayed exemplarily high performance in all eight dimensions of the evaluation, including not only accuracy, but also professionalism, authenticity, kindness, initiative, ease of use, appearance, and social value orientation, resulting in the commendable achievement of ranking first in the university category for eight successive years.

President Sim remarked, “Just as Sogang University has contributed to national and global developments by practicing the Jesuit educational philosophy that it has pursued for the past 60 years, we will continue to diligently work hard to anticipate the competitiveness of the post-AI era. We will achieve this through a variety of innovations and alterations such as the establishment of Graduate School of AI and Graduate School of Metaverse, which will lead the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. We shall additionally strive for joint development with both businesses and society by establishing outstanding industry-university cooperation and attaining a reputation for being an unparalleled leader for startups among universities.”
