Research of Professor Jung Myung-Hwa of the Department of Physics

is Chosen as One of “100 Excellent National R&D Performances” in 2020





The research of Professor Jung Myung-Hwa of the Department of Physics has been chosen as one of the '100 Excellent National R&D Performances in 2020.'

 

'100 Excellent National R&D Performances in 2020', an annual event held by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning since 2006, aims to elevate understanding and interest among Koreans on the role of science and technology that has led Korea's national advancement and inspired pride in professions in the science and technological fields.

 

For the 2020 list, over 70,000 government-funded R&D projects (as of 2019) were narrowed down to 780 candidates by recommendation of each department, team, and office. They were then appraised by a committee of judges consisting of industry-university-research experts regarding qualitative excellence, and the final list of 100 was selected through public examination and announced on October 29.

 

Professor Jung was credited as having an Excellent Performance in the Pure Basic Infra Field for her thesis “Examination of Magnetic Exchange Interactions Hidden in MRAM,” which was published in Nature Materials. In recognition of her achievement, Professor Jung will be presented with a certificate and a signboard by the Minister of Science and ICT.

 

In January, Professor Jung was also selected as the "Basic Researcher of the Year in 2019” for the same research by Ministry of Science and ICT.
