Sogang University and the Korea Economic Daily Signs an MOU on

2020 English Economic Presentation Competition

Sogang University and the Korea Economic Daily (Hankyung) signed an MOU of cooperation on May 26 at the President's reception room, establishing a new English Economic Presentation Contest.

Hosted by Sogang and Hankyung and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), this competition is designed to foster analytical and presentation skills in Korean students from primary to middle- and high-school and to promote greater understanding about the international society and economy through competing in English presentation.

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by President Park Jong Gou, Acting Executive Vice President Oh Kyung Whan of Research & External Affairs, Head of Public Affairs Kim Juho, Hankyung CEO Ha Young-choon and Executive Director Yoon Seong Min.

The faculty members of the School of Economics will serve as judges for this competition, which begins with preliminary rounds in July and August and ends with a final competition in October. Participants with the most excellent presentations will be awarded the Sogang University Presidential Prize and the Hankyung CEO Prize along with prize money, a plaque and a trophy.

Hankyung CEO Ha Young-choon said, "I believe this competition will benefit participating students at a time when global skills have become increasingly important and the English assessment in the Korean College Scholastic Ability Test is shifting to absolute grade scale." President Park Jong Gou added, "I feel very happy to sign such an innovative and meaningful MOU with Hankyung, which has long had a profound interest and background in education. I will do my best to host a successful competition to the best advantage of Sogang's academic professionalism."
