Loyola Library1   Loyola Library2
The Loyola Library of Sogang University started on the 2nd floor of the main building(Hall A) in 1960 with the opening of Sogang University. Then, in February 1974, a four-story building was completed and was named Loyola Library in honor of Saint Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), the founder of the Jesuits, and opened as the first fully opened-shelf system in Korea.
Our library is operated as three buildings by completing Building 2 in 1982, Building 3 in 1997. There is also the Law Library on the 1F of Hall X. In 1986, we automated the loan and return process for the first time among university libraries. Since 1991, we have operated the barcode system and the anti-theft system.
In 2010, we established the U-Dream Hall, a complex space for user education, exhibitions, and events. In 2013, we created the 'Manlesa Zone' (5th floor, Building 3), a space for personal reflection and reading. In 2016, the 'Dream Forest' (4th floor, Building 1) was installed. The Humanities Café 'Forest of Contemplation' (4th floor, Building 1) was opened in 2017, and the Loyola Lee Ju Yeon Gallery was opened in 2018 to provide various types of facilities and space for users.
