10 Years Running: Top Rank in ‘KS-SQI’ for ‘Comprehensive University’ Category

Sogang University has secured the top position in the “Comprehensive University” category within the “2023 Korean Standard-Service Quality Index (KS-SQI)” survey, organized by the Korean Standards Association (KSA).
The grand 2023 KS-SQI certification ceremony took place on November 8 (Wednesday) at the Crystal Ballroom in Lotte Hotel, Sogong-dong, Seoul. More than 230 distinguished guests, including the No.1 companies/organizations from each industry for the latter half of the year, attended the event. During the luncheon, President Sim Jong-hyeok of Sogang University, on behalf of all winning companies, raised a toast, expressing hope for the continued growth of KS-SQI by stating, “KS-SQI has propelled the Korean service industry forward since 2000 by scientifically gauging service quality. I hope that it may continue to grow as a global quality index, contributing significantly to enhancing societal competitiveness.”
As a service-quality gauging model co-developed by KSA and Seoul National University Business School, KS-SQI serves as a comprehensive index reflecting the characteristics of the Korean service industry and consumers. Since 2000, KS-SQI, based on its survey model, has been annually executed and released in partnership with the JoongAng Ilbo. Through ongoing validation, adjustments, and supplementation to mirror evolving service-industry trends, the index maintains its status as a prominent benchmark for service quality in Korea.
The recent 2023 KS-SQI survey, conducted between March and May, and then July and September, evaluated actual service users’ experiences. Within the “Comprehensive University” category, the industry averaged 81.3 points, representing a slight increase from 2022 (81.1 points). Sogang University secured the top spot for the 10th consecutive year with a score of 81.8 points, earning praise for its professionalism, proactivity, and overall presentation compared to other universities.
Sogang University earned commendation for its boundary-breaking multidisciplinary system, flexible convergence curriculums, and structured support for entrepreneurship. Pioneering the introduction of a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary system, Sogang University has led convergence education, establishing forward-looking entities like the Graduate School of Metaverse, System Semiconductor Engineering, and the Department of Artificial Intelligence. In 2024, Loyola International College will be newly established, providing a specialized and convergent educational model to foster global leaders to bridge the world and Korea.
