Sogang University ranked first among universities for nine consecutive years for their research submitted to the '2022 Korean Standard-Service Quality Index (KS-SQI)' hosted by the Korean Standards Association (KSA). The 2022 KS-SQI Certification ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 8 at the Lotte Hotel, where President Sim Jong-hyeok received the plaque for first place in the University category.

Sogang’s KS-SQI research was conducted across students enrolled at the university, excluding freshmen, between May and September 2022. Sogang University received high marks in all evaluation criteria including accuracy, professionalism, authenticity, friendliness, initiative, usability, external property, and social value orientation, and was ranked first among universities once again for the ninth year in a row.

Sogang University received high marks in particular for its support of a free multi-major system, its systematic employment infrastructure, and its program to support start-ups. Leading the way in convergence education with its introduction of unlimited multi-majors and student-designed majors for the first time in Korea, Sogang University has continued to foster a new educational paradigm with its founding of the Graduate School of Metaverse, the Department of Systems Semiconductor Engineering, the Department of Artificial Intelligence, and so forth, ushering in the era of digital transformation.

“We will fortify our competitiveness through our willingness to experiment and innovate in the post-AI era and we hope to establish ourselves as the leading university for industry-academic cooperation and business start-ups,” said President Sim Jong-hyeok.

The KS-SQI is a major comprehensive indicator that measures overall quality of service by surveying people who have experienced the product and service of the company directly themselves. Since its initial co-development in 2000 by the Korean Standards Association and Seoul National University Institute of Management Research to measure the domestic service industry and consumer characteristics, the KS-SQI it has been used as a comprehensive index measuring the quality of service of businesses and organizations across Korea for 23 years. Since last year, the KS-SQI 3.0 model has been applied to include more indicators such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and company values.
