On Thursday, November 11 in a small conference room in Underwood Hall at Yonsei University, Sogang University and Yonsei University signed an agreement on joint development and operation of curriculum.

With this agreement, the faculty from both schools will jointly develop and operate online and offline lecture content in order to support students so that they can freely take courses and acquire credits. Thanks to their geographical proximity, the two universities have been actively engaged in diverse student exchange programs since 1976 and are planning to expand their offline exchanges to incorporate online through this agreement to further widen the accessibility and depth of exchanges.

President Sim Jong-hyeok stated, “I am very much looking forward to working to further expand the cooperative work in education and research between the two schools with the view of jointly developing and operating the curriculum.” And he added, “Utilizing the knowledge and experience acquired in overcoming the Covid-19 situation, I believe that efforts to jointly plan and operate courses and research projects beyond simple exchanges are the challenges that all universities face in this era. I hope that this agreement will serve as an opportunity for both schools to further increase cooperation and joint work in education and research activities.”

President Suh Seoung-hwan of Yonsei University also expressed his future expectations by saying, “So far, Sinchon has been a university town geographically speaking, where several universities are situated. However, in the future it will serve as a hub for the digital education community in Korea where you can find all the education you want in one place, rising to a truly revived identity as a university town both online and offline.”
