Sogang Alumni Association and Sogang Alumni Scholarship Association
Donate KRW 150 Million for School-Development Fund






 

On June 24 (Thursday), the Sogang Alumni Association and Sogang Alumni Scholarship Association delivered KRW 150 million in development funds to the school.

 

During the ‘Sogang Alumni Development Plan Meeting’ held at Gonzaga Hall on June 8, Sogang Alumni Association Chairman Kim Kwang-ho (who is also chairman of the Sogang Alumni Scholarship Association) pledged to donate KRW 100 million for the Sogang Love Fund (Alumni Association) and KRW 50 million for the Talent-Development Scholarship Fund (Sogang Dongmun Scholarship Association) to the school. 

 

 In attendance on this day were President Sim Jong-hyeok, Executive Vice President Song Tai-kyong of Academic Affairs, Executive Vice President Kim Soon-kee of Research & External Affairs, Vice President Kim Kil-sun of Budget and Planning, Vice President Jeong Ok-hyun of Public Affairs, Sogang Alumni Association Chairman Kim Kwang-ho (Business ‘72), Alumnus Jeon Byung-yun (English ‘75), Sogang Alumni Association Vice Chairman Jeong Eun-sang (History ‘81), Vice Chairman Kwon Hee-baek (Business ‘82), and Vice Chairperson Jung Myung-sook (French ’83), with various discussions held for the development of the school over the course of two hours. The participants shared the view that ‘the development of the school is ultimately about the students’ success,’ promising to work together to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the school and the alumni association in various fields.

 

 Since 2000, the Sogang Alumni Association has donated about KRW 1.7 billion for school-development funds, such as the Sogang Love Fund, while the Sogang Alumni Scholarship Association has provided about KRW 6.64 billion through the Alumni Association Scholarship, Talent-Cultivation Scholarship, Dasoni Sponsorship Fund, and Student Culture and Club Support Fund.

 

Sogang Alumni Association Chairman Kim Kwang-ho said, “I believe that President Sim and other members can work together to rebuild Sogang,” adding that, “The Sogang Alumni Association will continue to cooperate with the school’s plans and will do its best to serve as a foundation for the school’s development.”
