Sogang Business School, AACSB-accredited for another 5 years

- Sogang extends its AACSB accreditation, symbolizing its status in the world's top 3% most competitive business schools, for the 3rd consecutive time -

As of April 7, 2021, Sogang Business School succeeded in extending its accreditation for a period of five years from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for the third time. After several years of preparation, the school obtained its first accreditation for business education in 2009, and then succeeded in extending this accreditation twice in a row. In early December of last year, it acquired another 5-year extension of AACSB accreditation by completing its online due diligence. There are only five business schools in Korea that have received accreditation for the third consecutive time, including KAIST College of Business and Korea University Business School.

The accreditation is re-evaluated every five years by the PRT (Peer Review Team) consisting of three deans of renowned overseas business schools. Deliberation is held on whether a university’s business education meets the global standards of AACSB in all aspects, including education and research. Evaluations are normally conducted through on-site visits, but in 2020, it was performed over a period of 4 days through Zoom due to COVID-19.

In this evaluation, our school was recognized for its strong curriculum as well as new programs created to suit student demand by strategizing Digital Transformation. In addition, the evaluation included the grafting of education and research in order to systematically set business strategic goals and achieve the strategic values of GLEE (Globalization, Leadership, Excellence, Ethics), and the virtuous cycle of operation through performance reviews, in the school’s strengths.

Jun Sung-youl, Dean of Sogang Business School, said, “The brand value is high in that only 3% of the universities in the world have acquired AACSB accreditation. It is a symbol of a competitive business school.” He added, “We will continue to maintain the qualitative excellence of Sogang Business education through efficient administrative maintenance and a strengthened level of research and education.”
