Sogang Entrepreneurship Center's Entrepreneurship-Day Successfully Held

 



The Entrepreneurship-Day (E-Day) event, hosted by the Sogang Entrepreneurship Center under the Sogang Initiative Group of Entrepreneurship, was successfully held online through YouTube streaming via the video conference platform Zoom.

 

With 2021 marking its 11th occasion, the event was aimed to promote enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and innovation by developing new business items and ideas. Starting with the Presentation on Performances by the Sogang Initiative Group of Entrepreneurship, the program proceeded with the Final Screening of Startup Auditions (Startup Competition) for the general field, Excellent Case Presentations from the Graduate School of Management of Technology (MOT), and the Awards Ceremony.

 

The highlight of E-Day, 'Startup Auditions (Startup Competition),' enjoyed the participation of 27 teams, out of which eight were made up of Sogang students - both undergraduates and graduates - competing in the final. In the MOT field, the teams confirmed as winners of Excellent Prizes and the Grand Prize gave presentations.

The winner of the Grand Prize in the general field was the team 'Linkle,' formed by Park Geon-u (Department of Art & Technology) and five other members. The team proposed a mobile application service to share texts, voice, images, videos, and other forms of content by link (url) units, enabling quick searches and easy communication for users. The winner of the Grand Prize in the MOT field, Yu Gyeong-yun in the graduate school program, introduced the 'Development and Sales of Aptamer Bio-Material-based Diagnostic Equipment and New Medicine Development.'

 

The judges were comprised of Sogang Entrepreneurship Center Director Hong Cheol Ki, Global Entrepreneurs Foundation's Founder and Chairman Kim Dae Jin (Derik), Draper Athena Managing Director Henry Chung, Company B CEO Eom Jeong Han and Korea Business Angels Association and Go Venture Angel Club Vice President Lee Sang Hak. The winners received prizes of KRW 14 million and a space to move into at the Students Startup Office in Sogang Business Center. For subsequent businesses, Haedong Science and Culture Foundation will continue its support.

 

Director Hong Cheol Ki said, "Under the motto of '1>10 (The One That Surpasses the Many,' my hope is that future startups at Sogang will achieve strong progress and grow as role models, just as Smilegate or Rainist have done, and will also make great contributions to the development of Sogang."
