On Wednesday, October 28, the Sogang University Research & Business Development Foundation (SUR & BF) and Korea Gyeonggido Company (KGC) signed an MOU on Industry-University Cooperation for Joint Research and Project Execution of Gyeonggido's Public Delivery Application Business Model in the SUR & BF meeting room.

The MOU signing ceremony was held in the presence of key members from each organization: Chief of the Research & Business Development Foundation Oh Kyung Whan, Professor Kim Dong Taek of the Graduate School of Media, Chief of the Office of Project Development and Planning Yoo Hi-seok, KGC CEO Lee Seok-hun, and Chief of the New Project Team Jang A-reum.

With the signing of this MOU, the SUR & BF will conduct research on a new business model for KGC's public delivery app called Delivery Express (Baedal Teukgeup) and provide guidelines for expanded applications in other digital platform economies for the future. Furthermore, the team will explore diverse industry-university cooperative projects to stimulate Gyeonggido's local economy through content production for the promotion and marketing of SME products.

When concerns arose about the rise of monopolies and oligopolies in the delivery app market, Gyeonggido and KGC developed the public delivery app Delivery Express (Baedal Teukgeup) to present a new alternative and make the delivery app market fairer and more competitive. This is the first public-private cooperation established by a cooperative venture with a private consortium enterprise, and has been praised for its value as a new business model.

KGC CEO Lee Seok-hun expressed his hope in signing this MOU by saying, "I hope we will pave a new road and generate a synergy effect from this public-private administrative and technological power with Baedal Teukgeup.”

SUR & BF Chief Oh Kyung Whan said, "We will make every effort to advance beyond the platform functionality of simply processing orders and deliveries to reach the level of a platform ecosystem for local small-sized enterprises."
