Wins the ‘Commendation for Distinguished Service from the Minister of Environment for the 30th Anniversary of Environmental Technology Development’

Professor Park Jung-yul from the Department of Mechanical Engineering won the 'commendation for distinguished service from the Minister of Environment for the 30th anniversary of environmental technology development,' hosted by the Ministry of Environment and organized by the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute. The award ceremony was held during the 'National Empathy Open Forum and Environmental Technology Performance Presentation for the 30th Anniversary of Environmental Technology Development' in the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Center on Thursday, December 8. 

As a research superintendent for the environmental-pollution management project based on biomimicry, Professor Park Jung-yul developed a color-changing sensor technology to detect VOCs using biomimicry, which became the selected project in the field of climate and air for the '2022 Excellence in Environmental Technology Development 20' last October. This technology detects the concentration of pollutant VOCs by changes in color, surpassing the existing technology and offering the advantage of visually monitoring individual VOCs permanently and without power. Professor Park received the commendation for his contributions to environmental research and development and for the excellent research performance demonstrated through passion and efforts toward environmental preservation.
