Sogang University and NIPA signed MOU for utilizing global talents
- Cooperation to attract outstanding global talents and expand multinational start-up culture -
Sogang University and National IT Industry Promotion Agency (President Yoon Jong-rok, also known as NIPA) signed MOU for cooperation to attract outstanding global talents and to structure multinational start-up ecosystem on May 23. The purpose of this MOU is to support start-up ecosystem in Korea to accept various global talents to become innovative and global.
The size of international students at Sogang University is about 700 students, so it is expected to seek various ways of support measures to actively introduce supporting programs to the global talents who are in school so that they can settle in Korea. With this agreement, NIPA will support personnel expenses when the global talents who are attending Sogang University are hired to a start-up company in Korea and through settlement support program in Korea, will actively support incorporation of start-up ecosystem in Korea. Furthermore, when global talents are hired to a start-up company in Korea, recently NIPA is promoting global talent entrance policy such as ‘Start-up global talent supporting project’ which supports personal expenses up to 30 million won for 1 year, ‘K-startup Grand Challenge’ which supports settlement of global start-up in Korea and so on.
President Yoo Ki-pung said, “Through this agreement, I expect that excellent global talents who receive education from Sogang University can take easier path to enter into start-up in Korea,” and “with this, it seems to let globalization of market and enhancement of technology competition from the start-up in Korea to be possible through multinationalism.”
NIPA President Yoon Jong-rok said, “Through this cooperation with Sogang University, support global talents who received education from the university can do start-up and find a position in Korea, which will be helpful to let start-up ecosystem to be globalized in multinational,” and “now it is difficult to secure competence without open innovation together with various global talents.”
