Received ‘Excellent’ level from annual evaluation

of Leaders Industry University Cooperation (LINC) Promotion Project

 

Received additional project fund of 56.5 billion won

 

 

From annual evaluation of Leaders Industry University Cooperation (LINC) Promotion Project, Sogang University received ‘Excellent’ level. With this, Sogang University LINC Foundation (Head Lee Tae-soo) will receive additional project fund of 56.5 billion won.

 

According to the result of LINC project annual evaluation announced by Ministry of Education, National Research Foundation of Korea and Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology on May 16th, within total of 87 participating universities, 22 universities received ‘excellent’ level and the universities in this level will receive up to 56.5 billion won to 53 billion won of additional supporting funds. Within the general universities, Sogang University, which belongs to the technology innovation type, received ‘excellent’ level and received the highest project fund in this level, which is 56.5 billion won.

 

Sogang University has been strengthening various industry-university projects such as idea industrialization to find new talented resources of the university, at the same time, support small and medium sized corporations. In the case of small and medium sized corporations, there is concepts about the new projects, however, in actuality, the human and material resources infra to actualize this is seriously lacking. Sogang University is supporting tangible and intangible infra that the university holds and supports so that the relevant company can quickly complete the review on business and enter into the market. In order to support this, by utilizing the entire space on 7th floor of Berchmans Woojung Hall as the ladder LAB(picture) and bull pen, support small and medium sized corporations.

 

President Yoo Ki-pung said, “The university can not depend on the tuition fees anymore so an alternative to this has to come up urgently. As an alternative to this, Sogang has been seeking industry-university cooperation and within 1-2 years, it is expected to make its first fruitation.” And added, “In the future along with social responsibility of the university, there will be continuous support on industry-university cooperation as an alternative to tuition fee incomes.”
