Research Team Selected as Excellent Booth at '2019 Korea Tech Show'

The research team led by Professor Jeon Do Young from the Department of Mechanical Engineering participated in '2019 Korea Tech Show', and their team booth was selected as an ‘Excellent Booth‘. Among the 119 teams participating in the exhibition, five teams with high scores in the overall evaluation including content composition, booth operation, and audience response were selected as excellent booths, and each received a prize of 2 million won.
The '2019 Korea Tech Show', hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, has been held every year since 2013 to share the achievements of innovative new technologies and new product development that will lead future industries. This event is also held to form public consensus about R&D in industrial technology by inspiring the pride of research developers. This year, it was held at COEX, Seoul from December 13 to 14, and exhibited by 110 organizations including major companies such as Samsung, LG, and Hyundai Motor Company, as well as government-funded research institutes, Sogang University, KAIST, and Asan Medical Center.
The exhibition theme of Prof. Jeon Do Young's research team was 'Lower Extremity Rehabilitation Robot SMART', which was selected as one of the 20 major exhibition products and attracted many audiences. Through the exhibition booth, people could experience firsthand the 3D virtual reality rehabilitation training implemented by the SMART robot.
There was also a screening of videos about the SUBAR robot developed in their laboratory implementing the rehabilitation training in large hospitals in Korea such as the National Rehabilitation Center, National Traffic Accident Rehabilitation Hospital, Chung-Ang University Hospital, and The Catholic University of Korea Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital.
In particular, the 3D virtual reality program mounted on SMART robot was initiated and developed by the students who took the 'research project' course, which was opened in the second semester of 2019 as a new course of Mechanical Engineering. The program has greatly contributed to realistic rehabilitation training to date.
