Sogang Alumni Associations held their 2020 New Year's Celebration Ceremony on Monday, January 6, in the Grand Ballroom of the Millennium Hilton Seoul. This was a meaningful occasion arranged for the first gathering in six years, since 2014, and in celebration of Sogang's 60th anniversary. The event was attended by over 230 participants, including President Park Jong Gou, Board Chairman Park Mun Su, Sogang Alumni Association Chairman Kim Gwang Ho, members of the alumni, and others with ties to Sogang University. The ceremony was emceed by Oh Jong Yun, a graduate from the Department of Business Administration (School Year '87).
The first part of the ceremony's program included New Year's greetings from Kim Gwang Ho (School Year '72, Dept. of Business Administration), Chairman of Sogang Alumni Associations, and President Park Jong Gou’s congratulatory address. Chairman Kim bestowed wishes of health and happiness to all, with expressing his ambitious plans for the year to come, stating, "In this year, I will strive to facilitate alumni meetings, especially for those among our alumni who are in business and various other sectors of society." President Park then recited Ki Hyong Do's poem, "College Days," inviting all the participants to reminisce on their own 'burning hearts' that drove them onwards through their college years. He went on to say, "In 2020, Sogang will miss you as much as you miss it, and I wish you all a happy year filled with new hopes."
