Delivered a Scholarship to Senior Students Studying Psychology
Sogang Game & Continuing Education Center (Chief, Cho Hak-gyun) held its spring semester orientation and ceremony for scholarship students on March 29 for the students enrolled in the psychology course at Psychology Academy. The chief of the center, Cho Hak-gyun, gave the scholarship tuition for 11 senior students studying psychology and motivated their studies. In particular, among the scholarship students, Bae Seon-tae, an 80-year-old student, had a remarkable story. She was able to graduate from Ilseong Girls High School located in Mapo-gu in her 70s, as she was born to an under-privileged family. In 2017, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Sogang Game & Continuing Education Center. So far, she has earned 84 credits and plans to graduate by February 2021.
At present, more than 50 senior students over the age of 60 are enrolled in the bachelor’s degree course for psychology at Sogang Game & Continuing Education Center. The chief of the Center, Cho Hak-gyun, said in his congratulatory remarks, “There is no barrier and discrimination in learning, regardless of age and gender,” and added, “We will spare no efforts for supporting not only those in their 30s and 40s seeking new paths in this era of life-long learning, but also senior students in psychology to enable them to realize their academic dreams at Sogang.”
