The 2nd Sogang Presidential Performance Competition

 

From May 8 (Wednesday) to May 10 (Friday), the 2nd Sogang Presidential Performance Competition was held at Outdoor Stage at Loyola Garden. This competition, organized by the Communication Center, is designed to support creative activities via liberal art activities of Sogang students. All performance genres are available for participation in the event, such as theater, musical, musical concerts, and choreography. Even graduates who finished their coursework in last 5 years and foreign students can participate in the competition.

 

This year, six teams participated in the competition. Two teams a day, the performances were conducted at 7:30 and 8:10 in the evening. After the competitors’ performances, from 8:40, the special performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” was conducted for three days. The performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” was held to congratulate this year’s competition and stage producer Cheong Seung-hyeon (Electronic Engineering Major ’97), who directed the entire performance in which professional actors participated.

The award ceremony was held at 9 pm on May 10. The winning team was given KRW 2.5 million in prize money, the gold medal team was given KRW 2 million, and the silver and bronze medal teams were given KRW 1 million and 500 thousand, respectively. The audience judges and professional judges appreciated all performances for three days and voted for the winners. The audience judges of enrolled students registered through sg_talent@naver.com by April 30, with a short explanation of the motivation for their application as judge of the event, along with their student ID, name, and contact.

 

During this three-day event, the “Special Event for Parents’ Day” was also held, including printing out mobile phone pictures taken with parents and a lucky draw for a red ginseng gift for students accompanying parents. The performance “The Eighth Star” received the grand prize in the first competition last year.
