Sogang Law School Shows Brilliant Performance
in the 8th Bar Exam
- Remarkable jump from last year’s 8th to 5th this year
- The ratio of successful applicants who took the exam for the first time was 93.75%, ranking second after Seoul National University
The Ministry of Justice announced the success ratio of the bar exam of students at 25 law schools on May 1. Sogang Law School ranked fifth among all law schools nationwide with a ratio of 65.57%, jumping from last year’s eighth place to fifth place this year. Regarding the first-time exam-takers, Sogang law school students recorded a success rate of 93.75%, the second-highest rate after Seoul National University students with 95.12%. The figure is higher than Korea University and Yonsei University by 4-9%.
Kim Sang-soo, the dean of Sogang Law School, said, “As the number of enrolled students at Sogang Law School is relatively small, professors can teach students thoroughly. This is the reason for the high performance. In addition, of course, it is because of the endless efforts of the students.” He added, “Sogang Law School will make efforts to maintain this highest level of passing rate of the Bar Exam and I hope the school authorities will continuously support our students.”
The Ministry of Justice began announcing the success rate of law schools last year. The Ministry had not disclosed the ratio as it had been concerned over the possibility that the schools would form a hierarchy.
