Sogang selected as 2016 Youth Dream Best Practice University
Sogang University has been selected as the 2016 Youth Dream Best Practice University. A ceremony to commemorate the honor was held in the International Conference Hall at the Korea Press Center on November 29 (Tuesday).
Awarded by Dong-A Ilbo Newspaper, the South Korean Ministry of Employment & Labor, and the Korea Employment Information Service, the 2016 Youth Dream Best Practice University award was created to share and promote examples of best practices for university systems that provide an ‘evolutionary approach to youth education’ and the ‘education and training of research talents.’
At the Korea Press Center, Sogang University was honored with the Dong-A Ilbo President Award for its ‘“Sogang MEP Program,” which helps students design their own career paths via practical field placement and training’ based on its extraordinary system for providing ‘career guidance.’
The award ceremony was then followed by a presentation titled ‘Sogang MEP Program: Academic Major, Expert Training, Project and Research-oriented Field Placement’ by Yu Hee-seok, head of the Office of Career Services at Sogang University.
“The “Sogang MEP Program” is a program that explores and pursues the primary objective of field placement for university students. The program is not a ‘special’ example, but rather a ‘proper’ example that shows what field placements should strive to achieve. It identifies optimal job placements to best match students’ majors while offering project-based practical courses centered on strategic alliance, thereby supplementing the rich learning experiences offered by the university,” Yu explained. “We’re going to increase the number of placements and develop enterprising and original models in order for more students to experience and benefit from our valuable programs,” he added.
