Sogang University Institute for East Asian Studies registered in international academic journal ‘TRaNS’ and SCOPUS

 

- Decided to be registered in world’s largest abstract citation database SCOPUS

- Aim to be academic journal with the most authority world-wide in Southeast Asian research field

 

 

‘TRaNS(Trans-Regional and –National Studies of Southeast Asia)’ of SCOPUS published by Sogang University Institute for East Asian Studies was decided to be registered in September.

SCOPUS is the world’s largest abstract citation database that contains more than 18,000 journals from over 5,000 publication companies in science, technology, medicine, social sciences field world-wide. World university ranking called ‘Times Higher Education World University Rankings’ recently started using SCOPUS to use as the database to evaluate on research achievements of each universities so its importance has become extremely high.

 

Sogang University Institute for East Asian Studies published international English academic journal called ‘TRaNS’ in 2013, with the aim to be the world-wide journal of East Asian research. Sogang University Institute for East Asian Studies head Shin Yoon-hwan and global politician scholar James C. Scott are in charge of joint editorship and this journal is being published twice every year in January and July from Cambridge University Press. In December 2015, registered in ‘ESCI(Emerging Sources Citation Index)’, which is an newly released indexing system that is a phase just before ‘SSCI(Social Sciences Citation Index)’ from Thomson-Reuters.

 

Head of the institute Shin Yoon-hwan said, “It is a valuable result of our continuous effort to make ‘TRaNS’ to be the world-wide academic journal for over the last 10 years,” and “I believe this journal will soon be registered in SSCI which is operated by Thomson-Reuters.” Also added, “We will continuously do our best with the most authoritative academic journal of the world in Southeast Asian research field.”
