Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation (LINC)

 

 

 

Former Intel Korea CEO Lee Hee-sung was appointed as the new dean of Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation (LINC) at Sogang University. The appointment ceremony of new Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation (LINC) dean was held on May 31 at the Office of President, Sogang University.

 

Beginning of this year on March, for the first time within Korean universities, Sogang University publically invited dean position of LINC (vice president position), within professionals who have carried out related work for over 10 years in cooperation, research institution, university, public and institution, and then selected Lee Hee-sung as the final qualified person. The appointment period for the new president of LINC will last for 2 years and begin from June 1.

 

Lee Hee-sung, the new dean was employed as an engineer faculty in Intel Korea, which is a branch of Intel in Korea and one of the largest global semiconductor company, by being promoted up to CEO position, he has been carrying out CEO position for 10 years. He is also an alumni of electronic engineering class of ‘81 from Sogang University.

 

On the other hand, for research management area of Sogang University, by restoring previous dean in research area will let full time professors of the university to be fully in charged. Therefore, newly appointed dean of Sogang University LINC Lee Hee-sung will establish strategy for securing world-wide competence of Sogang University LINC, plan and practice, technology transfer/industrialize by securing finance of the university, establish synergy through cooperation between university and corporation and will be focusing on creation of leading function for realization of industry-university cooperation.
